The Craig Bar

Woodside Ave, Grantown-on-Spey PH26 3JN, UK – 01479 872669

Nice small bar in Grantown. Food menu consists of some nice sounding a looking pies. Maybe one day we'll have on. Would like to see more "local" beers available, rather than the usual T and H lagers.

Simple and great value. A pie. A proper pie, not a stew with a piece of pastry on top! Great chips, too.

Claymore Bar

12 High St, Grantown-on-Spey PH26 3HB, UK – 01479 873108

Basic pub. Mix of tourist and locals. No food but landlord said we could buy from fish and chip shop opposite and eat in pub. Friendly staff. Has TV above bar.

A proper local welcomes strangers. And dogs.

No 7 Bistro

A great local restaurant, offering excellent fare and attracting a full house on the night we went. Perhaps not unusual in holiday season, but the assured, quality cooking and the interesting combinations of ingredients would also have been enough to explain why they were, literally, turning them away on a Tuesday evening. This was authentic cuisine from a knowledgeable and thoughtful chef. The welcome was friendly, and the service efficient rather than warmly engaging. Mind you, the staff may have been a bit distracted... there appeared to be some confusion over the time of bookings, and a couple of parties were sent away to the bar down the road and asked to return 'in 20 minutes'... Quaint. In the end this is quality cooking in a cute local restaurant that will reward a visit. Recommended.

Excellent bistro packed out on a Wednesday night. Very efficient and friendly service. Food offers good choice. We could have had the steak special or various Thai dishes but went for a crab salad and a crab mornay. Both delicious. Relaxed and good quality. Table next to us immediately re-booked for Friday night. We were only in town for one night but would have happily chosen several other things off menu.

The Wee Puffin

15 High St, Grantown-on-Spey PH26 3EG, UK – 01479 873377

Great meal with friendly service and reasonable prices. Reservations recommended though staff managed to accommodate us after a short wait when we arrived without having booked. Wide range of soft and alcoholic drinks and a decent pufflings (kids!) menu too. Definitely would visit again if back in the area.

Friendly owner gave lots of good advice about tastes, food and drink. Also catered for our friends 'special' dietary requirements really well. Superb collection of drinks.

High St Merchants

74 High St, Grantown-on-Spey PH26 3EL, UK – 01479 872246

Lovely homely spot with great dinner options on Friday and Saturday nights. We had burgers with a Bakewell slice for dessert. They serve beer brewed out back (two thirsty men) - both options on tap were delicious. The staff give a great welcome too

Inviting atmosphere, great food and great service... will recommend to e everyone

Garth Hotel and Restaurant

Garth Hotel, 21 Castle Rd, Grantown-on-Spey PH26 3HN, UK – 01479 872836

Great food with local produce in a quaint Scottish themed hotel. Well worth a visit at least to try the local made food cooked well

My wife and I really enjoyed our dinner here. The service was great and the food was delicious. I believe that the gentleman that helped us was named Andrew. I could be totally wrong on that, but he was excellent. (He's the Asian-Irish gentleman) The man knows his Scotch. Good lord. He was a wealth of information on just about everything there's to know about Scotch Whisky. I'm a bourbon drinker and was a bit put off by Scotch. It was just because I didn't know about the vast types. He was so great to educate me and I fell in love with Glenfarclas because of his excellent recommendation. If we ever get back to Grantown-on-Spey, I hope we run into him again.

Sylhet Brasserie

Just popped in on a bike run, reasonably priced, decent menu and courteous service far superior to Indian restaraunts in Aviemore, worth the drive if staying in more central Cairngorms

Yet another amazing meal. So many people visit and say it is either one of of the best, or the best, Indian meal they have had.
